A powerful explosion shook Moscow, causing walls and windows to shake across multiple districts, Telegram channel Astra reported on Aug. 7.
Residents in various areas of Moscow and surrounding suburbs reported hearing the explosion at approximately 11 a.m.
"Moscow, a very loud sound of an explosion at 11 a.m. — so strong that windows shook — from the center to the north of Moscow. Several acquaintances confirm they heard it. Visually, nothing is visible," a local resident reported.
Online reports indicate the precise cause of the explosion remains unknown. Local authorities have not commented on the incident.
Russian monitoring channels warned of a potential incoming attack. The loud blast may have been caused by a military aircraft breaking the sound barrier, Astra noted.
"Muscovites are writing about some kind of explosion," Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) wrote on Telegram.
The blast was captured on surveillance cameras across the aggressor state's capital.
On Aug. 2, an explosion occurred at the Balzi Rossi restaurant in central Moscow, eliminating Russian Army Major General Valery Plokhotnyuk. Russian investigators claim a woman attempted to carry explosives inside the venue and died in the detonation.
