Macron sets date for ‘coalition of the willing’ summit on Ukraine settlement
The summit of the "coalition of the willing" aimed at resolving the situation in Ukraine will take place in Paris on March 27, French President Emmanuel Macron said, BFMTV reported on March 20.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will also participate in the meeting.
European countries will discuss their stance on Ukraine and formulate demands for a potential peace agreement at the summit, Bllomberg reported, citing its sources.
The talks will include representatives from Germany, Italy, Poland, and other EU countries, as well as non-EU states - the United Kingdom and Canada. On the eve of the summit, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that the "coalition of the willing" plan, initiated by London and Paris, is moving into an "operational phase."
According to the joint plan by Starmer and Macron, the first stage of the settlement involves a month-long ceasefire in the air, at sea, and across energy infrastructure. The second stage envisions the deployment of a peacekeeping force on Ukrainian territory.
