A monument to Russian poet Alexander Pushkin has been pulled down in the town of Kremenchuk in Poltava Oblast, spokesperson of Kremenchuk City Council, Yulia Perepeliatnik told Ukraine’s Suspilne broadcaster on Nov. 21.

The monument will be kept by the municipal enterprise "Blagoustiy."

Pushkin Avenue in the center of the city, where the monument was placed, has be renamed Ukrainian Renaissance Avenue.

Many names connected with the Soviet past have been changed in Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, and monuments to famous Russians have been taken down.

In Odesa the monument to Catherina the Great, the Russian empress, has also been demolished.

Monuments to Pushkin have already been removed in Kharkiv, Zhytomyr and Chernivtsi.
