Ukraine’s partners in the fight against Russian armed aggression will stand by it for years to come, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated in an interview with German public broadcaster ZDF on Aug 23.

The Secretary General dismissed rumors of “war exhaustion” and said that the price that would be paid if Russia succeeded in its conquest of Ukraine would be much higher.

“Yes, we pay a price, but the price we pay here can be measured in money,” Stoltenberg said.

“The price Ukrainians pay is measured in lives — the loss of lives every day.”

He stressed that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin made a huge miscalculation in starting this war against Ukraine, and that the Alliance is ready to support Ukraine for as long as necessary.

“Yes (NATO can support Ukraine for years - ed.),” the Secretary General said.

“But this will have consequences not only in the military sphere, but also in industry. We need to increase production. We can also learn a lot. We need a strong defense to prevent wars.”
