NATO summit to last one day amid Trump’s aversion to lengthy meetings
The NATO summit in The Hague, scheduled for June 24–25, will last just one day amid media reports suggesting that US President Donald Trump struggles with long meetings, official NATO website wrote on June 16.
The officials published the Summit's full agenda.
The plenary session of the NATO Summit's Defense Industry Forum is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. local time on June 24. A working dinner of the NATO-Ukraine Council at the level of foreign ministers is set for 7:00 p.m. that evening.
The North Atlantic Council meeting at the heads-of-state and government level will take place at 10:30 a.m. on June 25.
The final press conference by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will be held at 2:00 p.m. on the same day.
Earlier, The Times reported that the NATO summit in The Hague was being tailored to Trump's dislike of long sessions, and would consist of only one meeting lasting two and a half hours.
The Times noted that NATO summits typically include three sessions, each two and a half hours long, focused on geopolitical and strategic issues.
On June 18, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported that the final communiqué of this year’s summit is expected to omit any mention of Ukraine, while naming Russia as a long-term threat.
Previously, it was announced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to attend the NATO summit in The Hague.
