Nauseda warns Putin may plan provocations against Poland and Baltics

Lithuania has intelligence about new Russian plans, including possible attacks on the country’s critical infrastructure, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said, LRT reported July 15.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin still wants to “test NATO’s unity,” Nausėda said.
Russia is therefore planning provocations against Poland and the Baltic states, he added.
Moscow may be preparing local operations against critical infrastructure in the region using conventional or other means, Nausėda said.
The Lithuanian president stressed that it is impossible to determine a specific place and time for a possible hostile attack.
“The other side may not yet have completed the planning process, and we may only know about the fact of preparation itself or the likely goal,” Nausėda said.
He also confirmed that Lithuania has strengthened protection of critical transport and energy infrastructure.
Nausėda said his team is actively preparing for a wide range of possible Russian attacks.
“We are talking about kinetic operations — not large-scale actions, but targeted kinetic operations that are highly likely to be directed against critical infrastructure,” Nausėda said.
Chargés d’affaires of the Latvian, Estonian and Lithuanian embassies delivered a joint demarche to Russia’s Foreign Ministry on July 13 over Russian claims that the Baltic states had allegedly provided Ukraine with airspace to launch drones.
The Kremlin responded by saying Moscow had no plans to prove anything.
