Netherlands allocates $400+ million for joint advanced drones development in Ukraine

The Netherlands is allocating $438 million for the modern drones joint development with Ukraine, Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans said in his visit to Kharkiv, NOS news outlet reported on Oct. 6.
Half of the drones will be developed in the Netherlands, while the remained ones will be manufactured in Ukraine and other countries.
"The Netherlands has played a 'leading role' in supplying Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets and Patriot systems," Brekelmans reminded.
"Now we continue with modern drones."
The new UAVs will be used for various purposes, including reconnaissance, defense, and attacks.
"Especially in the air, but also on land and at sea," he highlighted.
The minister mentioned that there is currently a high demand for drones, as they are crucial for Ukraine's air defense and offensive operations.
"Should the developed drones prove successful, additional funding will be allocated to expand production," Brekelmans added.
On Oct. 6, the Dutch Defense Minister made an unannounced visit to Kharkiv, when he announced that the first F-16 fighter jets from the Netherlands arrived in Ukraine.
Other 24 planes will arrive in Ukraine in the coming months, he added.
