Ukraine to sign bilaterial security agreement with Norway
Ukraine and Norway concluded bilateral negotiations on a
security guarantees agreement, with state leaders poised to sign the strategic
document imminently, Presidential Office of Ukraine reported on April 15.
It is noted that the information about the completion of the
negotiations, started on Feb. 26, was announced during a meeting between
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen
Barth.
Bilaterial diplomacy of Ukraine
In July 2023, G7 leaders announced that they agreed on a declaration
on security guarantees for Ukraine.
So far, Ukraine signed security agreements with United
Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Spain, Canada, Italy and Latvia.
Also, President Zelenskyy and his Finnish counterpart
Alexander Stubb signed a ten-year agreement on security cooperation and
long-term support on April 3.
Speaker of Estonian parliament, the Riigikogu, Lauri Huassar,
announced that work on a security agreement between Estonia and Ukraine is in
its final stages on March 26.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with
Portugal’s new Prime Minister Luiz Montenegro on April 3. In particular, they
discussed preparations for signing a security guarantee agreement.
Ukrainian and Lithuanian delegations discussed a bilateral
agreement on security guarantees and determined a schedule for its preparation
on April 4.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
