Ukraine, Spain begin negotiating bilateral security agreement
Ukrainian and Spanish officials have
started talks a bilateral security cooperation agreement,
the Office of the President of Ukraine announced on March 4.
This being the first round of negotiations on the matter, no concrete details of the future deal were settled.
"The structure of the future agreement was discussed and a schedule for further negotiations was agreed upon," the statement said.
The message did not reveal any other details of the meeting.
Ukraine has already signed similar security deals with the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, and Italy.
In July 2023, G7 countries announced that they had agreed on a declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine, which envisages a series of bilateral agreements that aim to ensuring a steady supply of military aid to Kyiv, aiming to deter any future Russian aggression after the current war ends.
