Four pyrotechnicians from Russia’s Emergency Ministry and a security guard were killed while allegedly inspecting an area after what he described as a Ukrainian attack, the Russian-installed puppet governor of occupied Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, reported on Telegram on Aug. 13.
He listed the names of the five dead as:
- Capt. Anton Chudakov, head of a unit;
- Capt. Aleksandr Panchuk, senior engineer;
- Warrant Officer Artyom Duplin, driver-sapper;
- Roman Pilipchuk, rescuer-sapper;
- Vasily Starovierov, security guard.
The Telegram channel Crimean Wind reported, citing subscribers, that the bodies of the dead Emergency Ministry employees had lain near their damaged vehicle since the night close to the Sevastopol 330-kilovolt power substation. In a post at 2:11 p.m., the channel said the bodies had finally been removed, though the vehicle was still standing near the substation.
Earlier, Crimean Wind had reported a drone attack on the Balaklava thermal power plant, while Razvozhaev said Sevastopol had been completely left without electricity.
Also on Aug. 13, Crimean Wind reported that an explosion in Sevastopol had killed Robert Shageyev, a former commander of the Ukrainian submarine Zaporizhzhya who, according to the channel, betrayed his oath in 2014 and sided with Russia.
