Poland is finalizing the development of its own loitering munition drone, designed as a domestic counterpart to Iran’s Shahed attack UAVs, Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said in an interview with Polish Radio.

The minister said the project is a key priority for the newly established Center for Autonomous Systems in Warsaw, which brings together military personnel, researchers, and defense industry representatives to accelerate the deployment of advanced technologies.

Poland is also increasing funding for the initiative, allocating up to 25 billion zlotys ($6.25 billion).

The funding will support not only loitering munitions but also broader autonomous systems and counter-drone capabilities.

The new drone features a delta-wing design and will be produced in multiple variants, including both training and combat versions.

According to preliminary specifications, the UAV will have a wingspan of 2.2 meters and a length of 2.6 meters, with a maximum takeoff weight of up to 85 kilograms.

It will be capable of carrying a payload of up to 20 kilograms, reaching speeds of up to 185 kilometers per hour, and operating at a range of up to 900 kilometers.
