Poland faces a labor shortage as Ukrainian migration slows
Polish businesses are grappling with a labor shortage due to slowing migration from Ukraine and the Polish government’s plans to tighten immigration policies, according to a report by Rzeczpospolita on Aug. 5.
The number of job vacancies in Poland is increasing every quarter. According to the Central Statistical Office of Poland, there were more than 112,000 job openings at the end of March.
The report notes that staffing shortages are already affecting half or more of the companies in sectors such as construction, manufacturing, transport, and logistics.
"The potential for immigration from culturally similar countries, like Ukraine and Belarus, is gradually being exhausted, and the government may tighten immigration policies, which could impact the influx of workers from more distant countries," the report states.
