Polish border blockade protest ends
Polish protesters who had been blocking freight traffic at the Yahodyn–Dorohusk border crossing ended their action in the evening of May 13, according to Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service.
“We received information from representatives of the Polish Border Guard,” the statement said.
“The protesters ended their action at 10:30 p.m. Kyiv time. At this time, truck processing in both directions—toward Ukraine and toward Poland at the Yahodyn-Dorohusk crossing—has resumed as usual.”
Hours earlier, the Lublin Court of Appeals upheld Dorohusk mayor’s May 8 decision banning the protest and prohibiting transport companies from blockading the Yahodyn-Dorohusk crossing.
Also on May 13, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry appealed to Polish authorities to resume normal cargo traffic across the border, given that it serves as a critical economic and humanitarian lifeline for Ukraine as it defends against Russian armed aggression.
On May 12, Polish truckers launched a protest at the Dorohusk crossing, preventing freight cargo going in either direction.
