Polish authorities report drone crash during training drills

A Polish military drone crashed on private property during training exercises, but no one was injured and no buildings were damaged, Polish broadcaster RMF FM reported on Dec. 15.
The incident occurred in the village of Leków in Poland’s Masovian Voivodeship, according to the report.
Preliminary information indicates the aircraft was a small reconnaissance drone that went down during Polish military exercises in the area.
RMF FM said the drone did not damage any homes and caused no injuries.
The incident comes amid heightened security concerns following earlier drone activity over Poland. On the night of Sept. 10, Russian drones crossed into Polish airspace, with many entering from Belarus. Four of the drones were shot down.
Polish authorities said on Sept. 12 that the attack involved 21 drones. One unmanned aerial vehicle was initially reported to have crashed into a residential building in the Lublin Voivodeship, though media later suggested the damage may have been caused by a missile launched from a Polish F-16 fighter jet.
Journalists reported that the Russian drones were likely targeting a logistics hub in Rzeszów.
Polish and European officials accused Russia of carrying out a deliberate, coordinated attack and rejected claims of Ukrainian involvement. In response, Poland announced the launch of NATO’s Eastern Sentinel mission, Sept. 13.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later said that 92 Russian drones were headed toward Poland on Sept. 10, most of which were intercepted over Ukrainian territory, though 19 still entered Polish airspace, Sept. 27.
