38 MPs sick simultaneously, some require IV drips

38 MPs have fallen ill simultaneously, with some requiring IV treatment, Parliament Committee Head Halyna Tretiakova reported on Feb. 13.
"I didn't get sick, but there are many questions: how did over 38 MPs get sick simultaneously when they were healthy the day before (treatment up to IVs)," she wrote.
Tretiakova noted that Parliament staff, including cafeteria workers, remained healthy.
"Why did the Parliament's press service come out with a senseless excuse if no investigation was conducted?" she asked.
"If it is rotavirus, why are the relatives of the sick MPs healthy?"
She suggested the narrative benefits those seeking to "reputationally destroy the legislative body."
Session cancelled
The Feb. 12 Verkhovna Rada session was cancelled due to the mass illness. NV sister outlet Ukrainska Pravda reported symptoms in 10–30 MPs included high fever, weakness, and diarrhea.
While some sources blame a rotavirus outbreak (linked to Kyiv or Bukovel ski resort), RBC-Ukraine sources in parliament denied the Bukovel link.
MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak confirmed the disruption was "partially true due to poisoning," likely from the cafeteria, alongside many MPs being on business trips.
