Ukrainian MP and member of the ruling Servant of the People party, Andrii Kholodov, has resigned his seat, anther MP, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, said in a Telegram post on July 31.

Earlier, journalists published an investigation revealing that Kholodov has been living in Cyprus for six months and running a family business abroad.

According to Zheleznyak, there will temporarily be 402 MPs in the Ukrainian parliament, until another person from the Servant of the People party membership list fills the vacant seat.

Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk wrote on Facebook that the Kholodov’s resignation will be voted on at the nearest plenary session of the parliament.

According to the report by Skhemy, Kholodov has not attended parliamentary sessions or participated in any voting for six months. However, as deputy Chair of the Finance Committee, he would participate in the committee’s meetings via video link.

Kholodov is not the first MP to lose their seat in recent days. On July 27, another Servant of the People MP, Yuriy Aristov, resigned his seat after a scandal. He was charged with providing false information in official documents, which helped him leave Ukraine for a vacation in the Maldives.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, following the scandal involving Aristov, once again condemned leisure trips of MPs abroad during the war, stating that "islands and resorts during the war are a betrayal of the society's interests" and threatening the violators with dismissal.
