Russia hits Dnipro with drones, launches five missile strikes on Kharkiv

Russia carried out daytime attacks on Dnipro and Kharkiv on Jan. 5, using both attack drones and missiles, local officials reported on Jan. 5.
In Dnipro, a drone strike caused a fire, damaging an industrial facility, several vehicles, and a power line, Dnipropetrovsk governor Vladyslav Haivanenko reported.
No casualties were reported yet.
At the same time, Russia launched five missile strikes on Kharkiv. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, multiple explosions were recorded, including hits on an industrial zone in the Slobidskyi district. Regional authorities said there were no immediate reports of casualties.
Ukraine’s Air Force earlier warned of attack drones approaching Dnipro from the south and east, prompting air raid alerts in parts of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
The daytime strikes came after a large overnight attack, in which Russia launched nine missiles and 165 drones across Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 137 aerial targets.
That overnight assault killed one person in Kyiv, injured four others at a private clinic struck by a drone, killed another civilian in Kyiv Oblast’s Fastiv district, and left the city of Slavutych completely without electricity.
