Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 85 attack drones overnight into Jan. 31, hitting targets in 13 locations after 20 got through air defenses, Ukraine's Air Force reported on Telegram.
Ukraine's air defenses destroyed 64 Russian drones — mostly Iranian-designed Shaheds along with Gerbera, Italmas, and other types — over northern, southern, and eastern regions.
55 of the drones launched were Shahed models.
As of 8 a.m., the drone attack was still ongoing, with enemy UAVs remaining in Ukrainian airspace.
Air raid alerts were declared overnight in multiple regions, particularly in the east and north, due to the Shahed threat.
On Jan. 30, Ukrainian Railways restricted train traffic between Dnipro and Zaporizhzhya after Russian strikes damaged locomotives and electric trains at the Synelnykove station, and drones were spotted near rail routes.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
