Medvedev threatens the world with nuclear weapons, cites ' country's fate'

Russia's Security Council head Dmitry Medvedev again floated nuclear threats, insisting Russia will use its atomic arsenal if it considers the state’s survival at stake in an interview with the Russian TASS propaganda agency on Feb. 2.
He said that if it comes to what he called “the fate of the country,” there should be “no doubts” about using such weapons.
“Nuclear weapons are extraordinary and exceptionally dangerous for the fate of all humanity," he said.
"But at the same time, if it comes to the fate of the country, there should be no doubts for anyone.”
At the same time, he claimed that Russia is not interested in a global conflict, adding that “Russians are not insane.”
When asked whether the Kremlin discussed the possible use of nuclear weapons against Ukraine, Medvedev replied that Russia acts “strictly in accordance with its nuclear doctrine,” where everything is already spelled out, and that there is therefore “no need” to discuss this use separately.
He also argued that since Moscow has not yet used nuclear weapons, it means that no critical threats to the country have existed so far.
On Dec. 30, Medvedev launched a stream of insults against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, bizarrely linking his rhetoric to aliens.
On Dec. 4, Medvedev threatened war against Europe if EU countries decide to use frozen Russian assets to finance reparations or support for Ukraine.
