Russia pounds Ukraine's Chernihiv Oblast with rockets and drones
Russian forces continue to pummel Ukraine’s northern Chernihiv Oblast, striking 26 settlements over the past week with rockets, drones, and artillery, local governor Vyacheslav Chaus reported on April 21.
“We recorded 193 shelling incidents and 383 explosions,” Chaus said.
“The Russian army launched eight unguided aerial rockets and conducted 83 drone strikes. Damage was recorded: one border-area enterprise was hit, as well as a passenger train car.”
Shelling caused fires in 13 buildings in a village in the Novhorod-Siverskyi District in one day.
Chaus also reported that over the past 24 hours, the village of Koriukivka and Novhorod-Siverskyi districts witnessed five shelling incidents and 10 explosions .
Ukraine’s Air Force data indicated that overnight on April 21, Russia launched a fresh wave of attacks, striking Kherson Oblast with an Oniks anti-ship missile and Mykolaiv Oblast with two Kh-31P anti-radar missiles, while also deploying 96 attack drones, including decoy UAVs of various types.
As of 9:00 a.m., 42 Shahed drones and other UAVs had been shot down across the east, north, south, and central oblasts.
An additional 47 decoy drones were reported as “locationally lost”, causing no damage.
