Russia may attack Ukraine with drones as it prepares for a new mass missile strike, the head of the Joint Press Center of the Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine, Natalia Humeniuk, said on Ukrainian national television on Jan. 1.

"The enemy has significantly reduced the number of ships in the Black Sea, they have only five left, and the missile carriers are in (their bases),” she said.

“They are not on combat duty. But we remember that they have operated before, and used a lot of Kalibrs — that's why they need time to re-equip. Now, in preparation for this, it is likely that more drones will be used, and meanwhile the missile carriers will be (reloaded).”

Earlier, sources in Ukrainian intelligence said that Russia had enough cruise missiles for two or three powerful missile strikes on Ukraine.

On Dec. 31, Russia carried out another large-scale missile attack on Ukraine. Explosions were heard in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhya, Khmelnytskyi and Mykolaiv. There were casualties and wounded, and civilian objects were damaged.
