Russian night attack was again aimed at energy infrastructure, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on Oct. 14.
“This night the aerial terror of Russia against our cities and our infrastructure continued again," he wrote.
"The main targets are our energy facilities. There were 96 strike drones; most were shot down, but unfortunately not all.”
The president emphasized that the day before Russian forces carried out airstrikes on Kharkiv, hitting a city hospital. Fifty-seven people were injured in that attack.
The strikes were also aimed at energy infrastructure in Oblast.
In Sumy Oblast, impacts were recorded on energy facilities and an industrial enterprise.
“Every day, every night, Russia strikes power plants, transmission lines; our gas facilities are under attack," Zelenskyy stressed.
"The world can deprive Moscow of the ability to carry out these brutal strikes on life. Partners know what is needed for that: Patriot, NASAMS, SAMP/T, and other vital systems.”
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine expects support from the United States, European countries, the G7 and all partners that possess air defense systems and can transfer them to protect Ukrainians.
He said the country needs enough air defense assets to close the sky to missiles, drones and guided aerial bombs, because then Russia’s aerial terror will lose its purpose.
“The world must force Moscow to sit down at the table for real negotiations," he added.
"Only peace through strength can produce results.”
Overnight on Oct. 14, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 96 strike UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera and other types; about 60 of them were Shaheds.
The enemy struck energy facilities in Kirovohrad Oblast. Five populated areas were left without power. Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) clarified that suburban train schedules have changed due to the attacks.
On Oct. 13, after a meeting of the Supreme Command, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that additional helicopter groups will be formed to defend against Russian strike drones.
