Russian drones target civilians, damage enterprise in Sumy Oblast

The Russian overnight drone attack damaged infrastructure at an industrial facility in Sumy Oblast, regional military administration reported on May 19.

Authorities reported that Russian forces struck the Shostka municipality, with preliminary data indicating at least six Shahed drones hit the site. Emergency response teams are now working at the scene.

The full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

Air raid alerts were issued across multiple Ukrainian oblasts during the night due to the threat of drone attacks. Explosions were also reported in Cherkasy Oblast.

On May 17, Russian forces used a Lancet drone to strike a civilian bus traveling from Bilopillia to Sumy, killing nine passengers and injuring seven others. According to Yuriy Zarko, head of the Bilopillia municipality, the bus was carrying evacuees — most of the victims were elderly women.
