Russian drones attack Sumy Oblast, killing three, including a child

Russian drone targeted the residential area of the Verkhnya Syrovatka municipality in Sumy Oblast, three civilians were killed, including an 8-year-old boy, regional governor Oleh Hryhorov reported on June 24.

"Emergency services managed to rescue three local residents trapped under the rubble," the State Emergency Service (SES) reported a few hours later.

"The body of the killed child was also recovered."

The strike occurred around midnight and caused severe destruction in the residential sector of one of the settlements in the Verkhnya Syrovatka municipality.

The agency added that the cynical attack led to widespread destruction: about 15 structures across six private households were ablaze simultaneously.

Despite the heavy fire load, rescue teams extinguished all sources of fire.

Preliminary reports indicated that three people were killed and six others injured.

In addition to the child, an adult man and woman were killed. According to the governor, the victims came from different families.
