Russian troops in Zaporizhzhia Oblast shot down their own Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter, the Center for Strategic Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported via Telegram on Dec. 21, citing Russian social media.

"(Russian) air defense is like that,” the message said.

“In the meantime, we invite the entire (Russian) crew of anti-aircraft gunners (responsible for the incident) to a gala dinner in their honor.”

According to Russian propagandists, the helicopter was downed in early December by a Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile system. Reportedly, the crew of the Ka-52 survived.
