The Ukrainian Air Force earlier tracked a concentrated group of jet-powered attack drones penetrating the airspace directly over the capital, issuing warnings as individual UAVs were detected moving at high velocity toward Trukhaniv Island and the Darnytskyi Bridge.

Escalating Aerial Bombardment Against the Capital

The daytime raid follows a massive ballistic missile and drone assault overnight into Oct. 14, when Russian forces deployed 39 ballistic missiles to strike all three of Kyiv’s combined heat and power plants (CHPs), sparking citywide blackouts and severe municipal water disruptions in the Pechersk district.

The new strikes occurred mere hours after national power operator DTEK announced on the morning of Oct. 15 that utility engineers had successfully stabilized the capital’s high-voltage electrical grid, temporarily containing the crisis caused by Russia's consecutive attacks on municipal energy facilities.
