Russian ballistic missiles rip through Kyiv Oblast, killing dozens

Fourteen people were killed and 27 injured across Kyiv Oblast following a massive Russian overnight missile attack, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) reported on Aug. 5.
Rescue crews are operating at four locations across three districts in Kyiv Oblast.
In the Brovary district, large-scale fires engulfed warehouse facilities in the city of Brovary and the villages of Velyka Dymerka, Kvitneve, and Peremoha.
In the Fastiv district, firefighters extinguished a vehicle fire on the premises of a local commercial enterprise.
In the Bucha district, emergency teams continue to combat a warehouse fire in the village of Chayky. Meanwhile, a fire on the premises of a logistics firm in the village of Sofiyivska Borshchahivka was successfully extinguished, SES reported.
Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Tymur Tkachenko specified that the highest casualty count occurred in the Brovary district, where nine people were killed. Russian strikes killed four civilians in the Bucha district and one in the Fastiv district. Regional authorities reported 22 individuals injured.
First responders are working at strike locations under the constant risk of secondary attacks, SES added.
Overnight, Russia launched a massive ballistic missile strike against Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, triggering powerful explosions. In the capital, one person was killed and 24 were injured, according to the latest data. A missile strike on a non-residential facility in the Holosiivskyi district caused an ammonia leak, while warehouses caught fire in the Desnyanskyi district. Additional hits were recorded in the Obolonskyi and other municipal districts.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported a major fire in the capital's suburban Kyiv-Svyatoshynskyi district.
