Ukrainian counterintelligence officers detained a Russian agent who was scouting the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Ukrainian-Russian border in Sumy Oblast, the press service of Ukraine’s SBU security service reported on June 17.

The spy was recruited by a representative of the Russian special services during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian invasion forces.

His task was to take pictures and videos of the locations where defense facilities are placed and track the movement of Ukrainian military vehicles.

The spy sent the intelligence data with reference to the location to his supervisor through secure communication channels.
