A Russian tank base and a military warehouse near occupied Melitopol was destroyed by Ukrainian forces, injuring hundreds of Russian soldiers, Melitopol mayor Ivan Fedorov said on national television on Feb. 3.

He said that explosions from the shelling were so loud that they could be heard 30 km away in Melitopol.

"It was bright at the tank farm where Russians set up their military base,” he stated.

“The locals said a fire lasted for a long time. According to the preliminary data, it was also bright at one of Melitopol's business entities at the south of the city, where another Russian military base was deployed.”

He added that no fuel was at the tank base, as it all was looted long ago.

"As for Russian losses in these attacks, I can say the following,” Federov explained.

“A few trucks with injured soldiers arrived yesterday at one of their hospitals. So, we can speak about hundreds of injured heaped up in trucks while being transported.”
