Russia occupies Zelene Pole in Donetsk Oblast
Russian forces occupied Zelene Pole in Donetsk Oblast and advanced near Nove and Novomykhailivka, DeepState analysts reported on May 4, as Ukraine’s military recorded 253 frontline clashes.
DeepState updated its map, stating, “The enemy occupied Zelene Pole and advanced near Novo and Novomykhailivka.”
Ukraine’s General Staff reported 253 combat engagements in the past 24 hours, with 113 Russian attacks repelled on the Pokrovsk front alone, including in Zelene Pole, Stara Mykolaivka, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, and other areas, according to the statement.
In particular, in the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders stopped 113 Russian attacks in the areas of Stara Mykolayivka, Zelene Pole, Myrolyubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Zelene, Promin, Shevchenko, Oleksandropil, Kotlyne, Novosergiivka, Novooleksandrivka, Kotlyarivka, Troitske, Andriivka and in the direction of Romanivka, Malynivka, Nova Poltavka, Myrolyubivka, Oleksiyivka.
As of Feb. 18, 2025, according to the Donetsk Oblast Military Administration, 784 settlements were temporarily occupied in Donetsk Oblast (447 of which have been under temporary occupation since 2014), accounting for 60.4% (approximately) of the total number of settlements in the region.
Situation in Donetsk Oblast
On April 21, it was reported that the Defense Forces pushed back the Russian troops south of Udachne in Pokrovsk district of Donetsk Oblast.
On April 23, the Khortytsia troop grouping stated that Russia was continuing its attempts to reach the administrative border of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts by May 9.
On April 29, the spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, said that Russian troops were rushing to the border of Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, and Donetsk oblasts. The situation in the Novopavlivsk direction escalated.
On April 30, DeepState analysts stated that Russian troops had occupied Sukha Balka and advanced near three settlements in Donetsk Oblast.
On May 1, DeepState analysts stated that in April 2025, Russian invasion forces occupied 175 square kilometers of territory, with the greatest advances near Sukha Balka and Kalynove in Donetsk Oblast, which is approximately 50 square kilometers, or almost a third of the losses over the past month.
