SBU’s Alpha unit hits Lukoil refinery and Perm station with drones

Ukraine’s Security Service said its Alpha special operations unit struck the Lukoil Permnefteorgsintez refinery and the Perm pipeline control station in Russia’s Perm Krai with drones overnight, according to a statement on Apr. 30.
Long-range drones operated by Ukraine’s Security Service struck oil facilities near Perm for a second consecutive day. Overnight, one of Russia’s largest refineries, with a capacity of nearly 13 million tons per year and supplying both civilian needs and the military, was hit.
Preliminary reports indicate that at the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez refinery, the AVT-4 unit — a key primary oil processing facility — was damaged. The strike set fire to vacuum and atmospheric distillation columns. According to the Security Service, such damage “effectively disables the unit.”
The Security Service also carried out a repeat strike on the Perm linear production and dispatch station, which supplies oil to the refinery. New fires broke out at the site, it said.
The targeted oil facilities, struck by drones from the Alpha special operations unit, are located more than 1,500 kilometers from Ukraine.
On the morning of April 30, another explosion was reported in Perm, with a large cloud of smoke rising over the city.
A day earlier, the Security Service confirmed a strike on the Perm station, where a large fire broke out and has yet to be extinguished. Reports said the blaze caused “oil rain” in the city, with thick black smoke covering the sky.
