Second Peace Summit may be held in India – Zelenskyy
A second peace summit could be hosted in India, Ukrainian
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in an interview with The Times of India.
Zelenskyy mentioned that he discussed this possibility with
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“We spoke with Prime Minister Modi. We have a platform—the
peace summit. I believe we could hold the second peace summit in any respected
capital. Certainly, it could be in India, and the prime minister could make it
happen, could organize the summit, though we would need to prepare,” said
Ukraine’s president.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is open to hearing
proposals from other countries, including India, the European Union, African
nations, Brazil, and China.
At the same time, he noted that Ukraine would define the
negotiation format, as the war is taking place on its territory.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that
the location for the second peace summit has not yet been determined.
Second Global Peace Summit – Key points
On June 15-16, the first Global Peace Summit, initiated by
Ukraine, was held in Switzerland without inviting the aggressor nation, Russia.
China declined to participate.
The summit brought together 100 delegations, including 57
heads of state and government leaders from around the world.
On June 16, Switzerland’s Foreign Ministry suggested that
the next peace summit for Ukraine could be held before the U.S. presidential
election, scheduled for November.
On Sept. 11, Zelenskyy stated that at the second peace
summit, Ukraine would present a victory plan to push Russia toward a diplomatic
resolution of the war.
