Spain plans to send first six Leopard tanks to Ukraine after Easter
Spain will send the first six German-made Leopard 2A4 battle tanks to Ukraine after Easter, Spanish newspaper El Pais reported on March 29, citing government sources.
This year, the Catholic Church will celebrate Easter on April 9.
Six tanks have already been refurbished by the Santa Bárbara Sistemas defense contractor in Alcalá de Guadaíra outside Seville, said El Pais.
This week, the tanks are undergoing firing exercises at the Cerro Muriano training ground in Córdoba. After receiving combat certification, they will be delivered by sea to Poland.
Several Ukrainian tank crews concluded their training on Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks in Spain on March 13, 2023.
A total of 40 tank crew members and 15 mechanical specialists mastered operating and maintaining Leopard-2s, having spent four weeks at a military base in Zaragoza.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
