An upcoming U.S. security assistance package to Ukraine will include four additional HIMARS rocket artillery systems, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in a statement on July 20.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said earlier that Western weapons have allowed Ukraine to significantly reduce its personnel losses during the full-scale Russian invasion. He noted that the Pentagon is pleased with how efficient HIMARS have been on the battlefield in Ukraine.

The White House announced a forthcoming $400 million security package on July 8. It will include four additional HIMARS systems and ammunition for them, brining the total number of these weapons in Ukrainian hands to 12.
