Control of the E40, a main road linking large towns in Donetsk and Kharkiv, is likely to be an important objective for Russia as it attempts to advance through Donetsk Oblast, UK Defense Ministry said in its daily intelligence update on Twitter on July 10.
"Russian artillery continues to strike the Slovyansk area of the Donbas from around Izyum to the north, and from near Lysychansk to the east," the ministry said.
According to the ministry's assessment, Russian forces have likely made some further small territorial advances around Popasna.
"Fires from Izyum continue to focus along the axis of the E40 main road," it said.
