Ukraine and Lithuania to co-produce long-range drones

Ukraine and Lithuania will jointly manufacture defense products to strengthen both countries’ security, Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal wrote on Telegram on Aug. 25.
He specified that Ukraine and Lithuania will focus on launching joint productions, including the creation of long-range unmanned aerial vehicles.
Shmyhal noted that a corresponding letter of intent was signed in Kyiv together with Lithuania’s Minister of National Defence, Dovilė Šakalienė.
The sides also discussed specific prospects for industrial cooperation opened up by the letter of intent.
“The document creates new opportunities for launching joint ventures, expanding Ukrainian companies in Lithuania, and exchanging technologies,” the Minister emphasized.
He also stressed that Lithuania will continue directing 0.25% of its GDP to military aid for Ukraine through 2027.
“We focused on attracting additional financing for arms procurement and the development of Ukraine’s industry,” Shmyhal added.
In July, then-Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that Ukraine’s defense industry is already capable of producing up to 10 million drones per year.
