Air defense destroys 30 Iranian-made drones overnight

The Russian Federation attacked Ukraine with Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones in the early hours of Dec. 19; thirty out of 35 of them were destroyed, the Air Force Command said on Telegram on Dec. 19.

Russia launched the drones from the eastern coast of the Sea of Azov.

Ukraine's anti-aircraft missile forces, fighter aircraft, and mobile air-defense groups were involved in the destruction of the targets.

Among other locations, Russia massively attacked Kyiv and the oblast with Iranian-made drones on the night of Dec. 18-19.

Kyiv City Military Administration said Kyiv had seen several waves of attacks by Shahed drones. Over 20 enemy UAVs were detected in Kyiv airspace. According to preliminary data, 15 of them were destroyed. The Air Defense Forces also worked in Kyiv Oblast.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klychko confirmed explosions in the city's Solomyanskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, as well as a strike at a critical infrastructure facility. Some areas of Kyiv were partially cut off the power.

Infrastructure facilities and private houses were damaged in Kyiv Oblast. According to preliminary reports, two people were injured.

Ten Iranian-made drones were shot down in the south of Ukraine.
