The Ukrainian military successfully destroyed two Kh-59 guided missiles and four Shahed attack UAVs used by Russia to attack Ukraine overnight on Aug. 8, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine commander, Mykola Oleshchuk, said on Telegram.

The Russians fired two Iskander-M ballistic missiles at Kharkiv Oblast from Russia’s Belgorod Oblast.

The aggressor also launched two Kh-59 missiles from the airspace over the Sea of Azov and four Shahed drones from the Russian city of Yeysk.

The air attack was repelled by mobile firing groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, anti-aircraft missile troops, and electronic warfare units of the Air Force.

An air raid alert was declared in several regions of Ukraine overnight due to the threat of ballistic weapons and enemy drones.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
