Ukraine’s forces have repelled two major Russian offensives in Luhansk Oblast, forcing the invaders to withdraw, head of the regional administration, Serhiy Hayday, said in a Telegram post on July 2. The attacks were aimed at the village of Verkhnyokamyanka, as well as a gelatin factory.
Russian troops used a wide variety of weapons to fire at the settlements of Pryvillia, Lysychansk, Vovchoyarivka, Zolotarivka, Loskutivka, Verkhnyokamyanka, and Bilohorivka, in the last 24 hours.
A hospital in the western Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi is now treating a man who was wounded in Lysychansk, Hayday added.
“One after another, people’s village homes are burning down,” said Hayday.
“Relentless shelling permits us only to shelter the wounded. Multiple, spread-out fires are raging. We’re barely managing to extinguish major fires in Lysychansk…”
The regional governor added that Russian attacks on Luhansk Oblast are coming from multiple directions and are conducted with huge numbers of armored vehicles. Nevertheless, Ukrainian troops are holding the invaders at bay, for now.
