Ukraine submits its Rome Statute ratification to UN
Ukraine has submitted its instrument of ratification of the Rome Statute to the UN Secretariat, Deputy Head of the President's Office Iryna Mudra announced on Oct. 25.
Ukraine will officially become a party to the treaty on Jan. 1, 2025.
“The Rome Statute is now definitively with Ukraine,” said Mudra.
“It was a difficult journey, but we have completed it and are proud of this achievement.”
On Aug. 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the bill ratifying the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and its amendments.
Ukraine initially signed the Rome Statute on Jan. 20, 2000, but held off on ratifying the document.
