Ukraine will draft a detailed plan to end the war before the second peace summit, where Russian representatives are expected, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told NBC News on Sept. 5.

President Zelenskyy said Ukraine will draft the end-of-war plan with partners who backed the first peace summit's communique.

He emphasized that addressing the crises caused by Putin will be part of the plan, and acknowledged that diplomatically ending the war without Russia is "very difficult."

Zelenskyy added that participants of the first summit requested Russian representatives at the second summit, and Ukraine agreed, saying, "Let's prepare a plan and invite them."

Global Peace Summit

The first Global Peace Summit, initiated by Ukraine, took place in Switzerland on June 15-16 without Russia's participation, and China declined to attend. The event featured 100 delegations, including 57 heads of state and government.

On June 16, Switzerland's Foreign Ministry announced that another peace summit for Ukraine could occur before the U.S. presidential election in November.

On June 15, Andriy Yermak, head of Ukraine's Presidential Office, suggested Russian representatives might attend the second summit. Zelenskyy noted that the world demands this, and Ukraine is open to it.

On Aug. 30, Bloomberg reported that Zelenskyy proposed India as a potential host for the next summit, but Indian Prime Minister Modi has not yet confirmed.
