Ukrainian army establishes third defensive perimeter around the capital
Ukraine’s Armed Forces is establishing a third outer defensive perimeter around Kyiv, Deputy Army Chief Oleksandr Hruzevych said in a press briefing on March 18.
According to him, Kyiv remains Russia’s main strategic military objective, despite being out of Moscow’s reach for three weeks.
“Enemy forces on (the river Dnipro’s) right bank have been halted 70 kilometers away (from Kyiv), leaving them no options but to engage in missile barrages,” Hruzevych said.
“On the left bank, their advance has similarly been stalled, but the enemy is cynically shelling our infrastructure there; they are being left without directions to advance along.”
“Two defensive perimeters (around Kyiv) were previously established, and enemy forces have abandoned attempts to advance from the directions of (the Kyiv suburbs of) Brovary and Boryspil; Ukraine’s Armed Forces are currently fortifying a third outer defensive perimeter.”
