Ukrainian forces repelled attacks by Russian invasion forces on several parts of the front in the Donbas over the last day, Ukraine’s General Staff said in its morning report on Aug 27.

Near Slovyansk, the enemy used artillery and Multiple Launch Rocket Systems to bombard the Dolyna, Dubrivnoe, and Krasnopillya districts of Donetsk Oblast, and also conducted aerial reconnaissance near Nova Dmytrivka.

On the Bakhmut section of front, invading Russian forces shelled Ukrainian positions with a range of weapons in the areas of the settlements of Bakhmutske, Vesela Dolyna, Zaitsevo and Kodema. The areas of Zaitsevo and Soledar were struck by enemy aircraft.

Enemy units attempted to improve their tactical position in the area of the settlements of Soledar, Zaitsevo and Mayorsk. The attempts were unsuccessful and the invaders were forced to retreat.

On the Avdiyivka section of front, the enemy tried to destroy priority civil and military infrastructure targets with fire from tanks, artillery and rocket launchers. Fighting was reported in Vodyanyi, Pervomaisky, Krasnohorivka, Zalizny and Novobakhmutivka districts.

Enemy aircraft were reported operating in the Maryinka area, west of the city of Donetsk.

The invaders conducted an offensive in an attempt to advance in the direction of Nevelskyi, but were repulsed and withdrew. The enemy also conducted aerial reconnaissance using UAVs in order to adjust artillery fire.

On the Novopavlovsk section of the front, the invading Russian forces mounted an offensive towards the settlement of Prechystivka, but were unsuccessful, and retreated.

Russian troops have been trying to capture the entire territory of Donbas for more than six months. After the almost complete capture of Luhansk Oblast at the end of June, the invaders intensified their shelling of populated areas of Donetsk Oblast.

Around 45% of Donetsk Oblast still remains under Ukrainian government control.
