Ukrainian skillfull maneuvers neutralize Russian numerical advantage in Kursk Oblast — UA military expert
Pavlo Narozhny, NGO Reactive Mail founder and a military expert, explained on Radio NV how the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) are operating in Kursk Oblast and why the enemy’s numerical advantage in this area is not a decisive factor.
He explained why the number of Russian soldiers does not affect Ukrainian ability to carry out successful tactical operations.
"In terms of numerical superiority, it would matter if there were a fixed defense line with established fortifications," he commented.
"There are some fortifications, but they are very limited. The enemy simply cannot build them quickly, and it would take them months to do so."
Ukrainian maneuverability plays a crucial role.
"We are very good at operating in the flexible way. If we strike in one area and receive a strong response from the enemy, we then try another location. If we manage to break through their defenses there, it means we've got behind their lines and can destroy enemy units. So, in this specific case, numerical superiority doesn't work, as there isn't a fixed front line that we’ve held for months. The enemy doesn’t fully know the landscape there and hasn't established strong fortifications."
Narozhny emphasized that this is exactly how the Ukrainian forces are operating, developing a new front in Kursk Oblast's west:
"The same group located in the Hlushkovsky district is now being flanked by the UAF from a different direction," he said.
"Once again, we strike in an area where the enemy doesn't have strong units. This is being done to develop a new front, forcing the enemy to respond by pulling units from other directions to stop the Ukraine's advances."
According to Forbes, Ukrainian forces are advancing in Kursk Oblast.
As of Sept. 12, Ukrainian troops, supported by drones and tanks, broke through a new section of the Russian border west of Ukrainian-controlled territory in Kursk Oblast.
On Sept. 11, the analytical portal DeepState reported that Russian troops began active counteroffensive in Kursk Oblast. However, military observers suggest that this Russian offensive has already been halted due to the AFU's maneuvering tactic.
On Sept. 13, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Kursk operation managed to stop the enemy’s advances near Kharkiv and slowed the offensive in Donetsk Oblast.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
