Drone incident over Dublin has no impact on Zelenskyy’s Ireland visit

Unknown drones over Dublin Airport during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s arrival in Ireland on Dec. 1 did not affect his visit, presidential communications adviser Dmytro Lytvyn said, Interfax-Ukraine reported on Dec. 5.
Lytvyn noted that responsibility for security lies with the host country.
“According to their data, the drones were observed, but this did not affect the visit and did not force any changes to the program,” Lytvyn told journalists.
On Dec. 4, Irish outlet The Journal reported that at about 11 p.m. on Dec. 1, four unidentified military-type drones violated the no-fly zone and flew out over the sea along the expected flight path of Zelenskyy’s aircraft near Dublin Airport.
The plane landed a few minutes before the incident. The drones reached the point where Zelenskyy’s aircraft was expected to be at exactly the time it should have passed. The UAVs then flew toward an Irish Navy vessel that had been secretly deployed at sea for the Ukrainian president’s visit.
An investigation is now underway. Irish security services are treating the incident as a hybrid attack.
