In the village of Linevo in the Zhirnovsky district of Russia’s Volgograd Oblast, unknown objects were reported to have fallen right in the village, on Tikhaya Street, Russian media reported on Dec. 31.

Telegram channel Bbbreaking, with reference to a Russian news agency, published a video of the incident.

According to the head of Zhirnovsky district Aleksandr Shevchenko, metal fragments reportedly damaged two houses.

Russian media write that the incident occurred around 1 p.m. There were no victims. Locals said they assumed that a drone had been shot down.

Video of day

The time of the incident coincided with the launch of Russian cruise missiles over the Caspian Sea by Russian strategic bombers.

Video circulating on social media showed what appeared to be a dozen or more missile exhaust trails in the skies over Astrakhan in Russia, next to the Caspian Sea.

However, Linevo is further to the north than the presumed flight path of the missiles fired from the Caspian Sea at Ukraine.
