The United States is devoting a lot of attention to providing Ukraine with air defenses, and has supplied the Armed Forces of Ukraine with almost everything necessary for its expected upcoming counter-offensive, White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby said on May 4.
He said that thanks to U.S. air defense systems, most of the cruise missiles launched by Russia against Ukraine over the last 48-72 hours have been shot down.
“We’re paying a lot of attention to air defenses,” Kirby said.
He noted that the United States has provided the Armed Forces of Ukraine with almost everything necessary for the expected counter-offensive, including armored vehicles, artillery, air defense systems, ammunition, and other necessary equipment. Ukraine has said it plans to liberate the parts of its territory that have been occupied by Russian invasion forces since the war began in 2014.
“We have done everything possible. But this does not mean that we will stop, that we have completed everything. You will see further support from the United States,” Kirby said.
