131 settlements in Odesa Oblast, 14,000 households in Odesa left without power
A severe winter storm had left 131 settlements in Odesa Oblast without electricity as of 12.00 noon, energy company DTEK Odesa Grids reported on its Facebook page on Nov. 26.
Some 14,000 consumers in the Kyivskyi District of the city of Odesa were cut off due to an emergency shutdown of one of the city's high-voltage substations caused by the bad weather, the company said in a press statement.
"Power engineers are trying to re-energize critical infrastructure facilities and customers with backup power sources where possible," the statement reads.
The city of Odesa and Odesa Oblast were blanketed with thick snow on Nov. 26. Cars and trucks overturned on the roads due to the icy conditions. The Odesa-Reni highway was also closed to all types of transport.
Heavy precipitation and strong winds have been reported in most regions of Ukraine, and a storm was observed in the Black Sea.
In Odesa Oblast, a grain truck overturned due to snowfall, and an international passenger bus slid into a ditch.
Two people were injured in other accidents in the region.
