Zelenskyy arrives at Bucharest Nine summit seeking more defense support

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and first lady Olena Zelenska arrived in Romania on May 13.
He said he would take part in the summit of the Bucharest Nine countries — Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Czechia. Nordic countries are also expected to attend the event.
“Important meetings are planned on the sidelines of the summit. We all need joint decisions and joint work to bring more security to everyone in the world. We will attract additional resources for our defense and expand the Drone Deals format,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Olena Zelenska is expected to meet with Romania’s first lady during the visit and take part in the signing of memorandums on the accession of Romanian universities to the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies.
In early May, Zelenskyy visited Armenia and took part in the summit of the European Political Community in Yerevan. One of the main goals of that visit, Zelenskyy said, was to help bring about a “dignified end” to the war launched by Russia against Ukraine.
