Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held telephone talks with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on April 30, according to Ukraine’s Office of the President.

Zelenskyy briefed Macron on the situation on the front line and its prospects for May and June, and highlighted the urgent needs of the Ukrainian defense forces.

The presidents agreed on additional measures to strengthen Ukraine’s potential on the battlefield.

“The speed and specificity of response is very important, it is something that significantly enhances our capabilities. We appreciate France’s confirmation of providing our Armed Forces with a powerful armored package,” said the Ukrainian head of state.

During the conversation, particular attention was paid to preparations for the NATO summit in Vilnius, where Kyiv expects specific decisions on security guarantees and the initiation of the procedure for inviting Ukraine to NATO, the Ukrainian readout of the call says.

The two leaders “also discussed cooperation with other international partners to consolidate their support for the Ukrainian formula for peace and coordinated their positions on the eve of important international events.”
